CSR is Not Just For Corporates

CSR is not just for corporates. If you have any type of business you need to start thinking about your CSR efforts. Don’t panic if you haven’t thought about this yet. Here are four simple tips to get your CSR on:

Tip One- Start Small

It is understandable that different sized organizations have different types of resources and enacting a CSR plan shouldn’t be a resource drain. Start by working on a CSR initiative that solves a problem. For example, if there is a lot of waste in your industry, start a recycling initiative! Green initiatives can be turned into recurring team building events so consider a charitable team build and hit two birds with one stone.

CSR doesn’t have to take a lot of resources or energy but it should be clearly defined and help your community.

Tip Two- Ask Your Team

If you don’t know where to start ask your team.  What types of philanthropy interests them? The best CSR efforts keep the whole team in mind. This is a great way to find out what your employees care about. Is there something local they are passionate about? A specific type of philanthropy you should consider pursuing? By asking your team you may be closer to find a solid CSR initiative that your whole team can stand behind.

Tip Three- Survey Your Audience

Let’s get super sophisticated and survey your audience about their charitable interests. All the latest research indicates that consumers prefer to patron organizations that give back to the community. So find out what matters to your consumers. While these may be big picture efforts, it could help you determine where to invest your efforts.

Tip Four- Decide and Let Everyone Know

So, you have now mulled over all the types of philanthropic interests that are simple. You have thought on what charitable causes appeal to your team and your audience. Now it is time to make a move and select the CSR effort or activity you’d like to invest in. Write out a plan and make an internal and public announcement. It is important to let your team and audience know that this is happening and you’re ready.

Inspire your team to get involved and get excited about the good works that are up ahead!
