Create Safe Spaces. Change Lives.
Let’s reconnect families in comforting Safelite Safe Spaces and provide resources that change lives.

May is Foster Care Awareness Month
Each May we take time to recognize the challenges faced by children in foster care and the opportunities we all have to support them. Thousands of children enter the foster care system each year, in fact there are over 400,000 children in foster care across the U.S.—children who are navigating uncertainty, separation, and often, trauma.
Your support—through giving, volunteering, or spreading awareness—can change lives. This month, you have the opportunity to help families and provide children with something essential: a safe, comforting place to reconnect with the people they love.

Families Meet In Spaces That Don’t Feel Like Home
Imagine being a child in foster care, finally seeing your mom or dad after weeks apart—and the room where you meet is cold, cluttered, or worse, completely bare.
For too many families in the foster care system, this is their reality.
Many visitation rooms—where biological families visit with their children—are run-down, dark, and far from family-friendly. Instead of promoting comfort and connection, they can add stress to an already emotional moment.
Connection Becomes Even Harder
Visitation rooms are meant to be a step toward healing. But when these spaces feel unwelcoming, it’s harder for children to feel safe, for parents to be present, and for families to rebuild trust.
For children who may only have a few hours a week with their parents, the environment matters more than ever.

Introducing Safelite Safe Spaces
This Foster Care Awareness Month, we are joining forces with the Safelite Foundation to launch Safelite Safe Spaces—a project aimed at transforming outdated rooms into warm, welcoming environments where healing can begin.
Each renovated Safelite Safe Space will include:

Soft lighting and comfortable seating

Toys, books, and games for kids of all ages

Calming décor that helps reduce stress and anxiety

A sense of dignity & belonging for every child & parent who walks through the door
Together, we can make every visit feel like a step toward home.
Creating Safelite Safe Spaces with Safelite
As part of our growing partnership with Safelite Foundation, we’re proud to support the creation of Safelite Safe Spaces—inviting, interactive areas where biological parents can visit with their children in foster care in a more welcoming and comfortable environment.
“We are excited to help shape the future and peace of mind of the children served while opening more dialogue and awareness about the foster system,” said Safelite President & CEO, Renee Cacchillo. “Not everyone can be a foster parent, but we can all do something to support the foster care community.”
This is just one of the many ways Safelite is showing up for kids in foster care and helping us create a lasting impact together.
