October Is
With Foster Love!
October Is Socktober With Foster Love
Socks are the #1 requested item for kids in foster care. Help us deliver warm, high-quality socks before the winter!
One Pair of Socks Can Make a Big Difference
Socks are the most requested item for kids in foster care, and yet they are one of the least donated. This October, Foster Love is partnering with Bombas to deliver 57,500 pairs of new socks to children and young people across the country. Every gift helps address a need that the foster care system sees every single day.
What Is the Socktober Sock Drive?
Socktober is Foster Love’s annual sock drive created for kids in foster care nationwide. Each October, we team up with Bombas to collect sock donations and deliver them to young people who often enter care with little more than the clothes they are wearing. Socktober encourages community sock drives to benefit local shelters, schools, and foster families, turning something as small as a sock into a wonderful opportunity for entire communities to support people who need it most.
This year, our goal is to ship 57,500 pairs of socks to children in foster care. It is a big goal, and with your help, it is one we can reach.
The Impact of Your Donation
Every donation to Socktober goes directly toward getting new socks to kids who need them.
No gift is too small. One pair of socks can be the first thing that tells a child someone in their community is thinking of them.
Why New Socks Matter So Much
Socks Are the #1 Most Needed Item
Agencies say socks are the item they need most, yet the one they receive the fewest donations for.
Children Enter Foster Care With Little to Nothing
Something as small as a fresh pair of socks can offer real comfort and warmth to a child who had no time to pack at all.
Foster Care And Homelessness Are Connected
Over 50% of the current homeless population has spent time in foster care, and every pair of socks donated goes directly to a child in that same system.
It’s A Movement With Proven Impact
Since 2011, Socktober has turned a simple sock drive into millions of donations from families, schools, and workplaces worldwide.
Socktober Echoes Foster Love's Mission
Socktober Echoes Foster Love’s Mission Socktober started as a small sock drive for people experiencing homelessness. Nearly half of them spent time in foster care, which is exactly why we’re bringing it to kids still in the system.
With over 300,000 children in foster care across the country, the need for something as basic as socks never slows down. By supporting Socktober, you are helping address an overlooked need
This October, Be the Reason a Kid Feels Cared For
Every child deserves to feel warm, supported, and connected to their community. This Socktober, you have a wonderful opportunity to make that happen, one pair of socks at a time. Whether you give, organize, or simply spread the word, you are helping deliver hope to kids who are counting on it.
Do not wait. The need is here now, and so is your chance to help.
Disclaimer: We make every effort to use your gift as specified. If a particular item or project becomes over funded, we use those funds were needed most.
