All aboard to the “windy city” – Chicago, that is. We got to our 9th stop, Chicago, with just enough time to some night seeing. Our team had a lovely night looking at the art they call “the bean” and the beautiful structure of the city. We even got to eat some amazing deep dish pizza!
We headed up to Claire’s headquarters about 30 miles outside downtown Chicago and set up our shop for the kids to enjoy. The one story that stood out the most was after we met Michael who rode his bike 45 mins to get to our event. He didn’t have a ride but when he heard about the opportunity to get new clothes, he made the trip. We gave him extra clothes because of his commitment. It’s kids like him that will make it through the system successfully. He will battle the statistics and make the most of his opportunities.
Our lovely friends at Pretzel Crisp also showed up and provided yummy snacks and treats for the road. They are such passionate and friendly people who genuinely care about our cause.
But our biggest thanks go to Elizabeth Porikos-Gorgees, President and Founder of Brow Art 23 because without her, none of this would have been possible.
