Are you struggling to find a safe way to celebrate a graduation during COVID-19? Us too! Foster Love – Together We Rise loves celebrating the achievements accomplished by foster youth in our Family Fellowship program. This graduation season is obviously different. For safety purposes schools are postponing or not hosting graduations at all. So how do we celebrate and keep everyone safe? Thankfully, Foster Love – Together We Rise has create a list of 4 ways to celebrate graduation during COVID-19.

1. Drive By Graduation Party!

Rather than hosting a graduation party in your home surprise your graduate with a drive by party. Let friends and family know and ask them to drive by your home with congratulatory signs and balloons. Maybe suggest decorating the car windows with washable paint.

This is an easy way for you to show support and praise the graduate in your life.

2. Host a Zoom Graduation

If your graduate is part of a smaller sized class, perhaps try organizing a virtual graduation. This is a great way for people to acknowledge the group’s accomplishment without physically being present. Check out our Family Fellows graduation HERE for inspiration.

3. Plan an Raincheck Celebration

Maybe the accomplishment is so HUGE you want to celebrate at a later date.  Don’t be afraid to postpone plans. Just because the graduate finished in June, doesn’t mean the celebration has be on that specific date.

4. Find Out What the Graduate Wants

Remember, not every grad wants a party. Find out how they want to celebrate. Maybe they just want a cake or even some money as a gift. Ask and help make their graduation celebration special.

In Conclusion

In conclusion, it may be different celebrating graduations during COVID-19. But when there is good will, there is a way.
