7 Unique Valentine’s Day Activities to Do With Your Kids

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate love, not just with your partners, but with your kids! Making the day special for your kiddos is easy and is a great way to bond and have fun together. Here are some creative and fun Valentine’s Day activities for kids the whole family can enjoy together.

1. Bubble Wrap Hearts

Cut bubble wrap into heart shapes, dip them in paint, and let your kids stamp colorful patterns on paper. This is a great way to recycle old packaging, teach your kids about colors, and be creative! Once dried, the hearts can be used as decorations, Valentine’s cards, or frames to glue photos to.

2. Kid-Safe Valentine’s Slime (No borax, Tide, or contact solution)

Making homemade slime is trendy and easy! All it takes is these 4 ingredients:

  • 4 oz white or clear Elmer’s Glue (if you want it opaque or see-through)
  • 1 Cup cornstarch or baking soda
  • ¼ Cup warm water (adjust as needed)
  • Decor: glitter, candy hearts, food dye, confetti, etc.
  1. Mix glue and food coloring in a bowl (red, pink, or purple are great for Valentine’s!)
  2. Add glitter, candy hearts, and more for Cupid-approved decor.
  3. Gradually add cornstarch until it forms a dough-like consistency.
  4. Slowly add water while kneading until slime becomes stretchy and soft.
  5. Knead until smooth.

If it’s too sticky, add more cornstarch, and if it’s too thick, add more water!

3. Sprinkle Melt Milkshake

For a festive Valentine’s dessert, start by coating the rims of clear-glass cups with frosting, marshmallow whip, or whipped cream. Next, pour Valentine’s colored sprinkles into a shallow bowl (round or sugar crystals work best!) , and dip the frosted rim into the sprinkles.

Fill the cup with your milkshake, pouring just to the rim so the sprinkles touch the drink. The milk in the shake will slowly melt the sprinkles and create a sweet Valentine-colored rainbow!

4. Cupid Says

Put a spin on “Simon Says” by giving Valentine’s-themed commands like “Cupid says cross your heart!” or “Blow a kiss!”

5. Smoosh Heart Art

Cut a heart out of paper, then fold in half. Add drops of paint inside (not too much!) and press it shut. When it’s opened, there will be beautiful symmetrical splashes of paint.

6. “Playdough” Heart Ornaments

Make homemade playdough by mixing and then kneading 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 1 cup of water. Shape the dough into hearts, or roll-out and use cookie cutters to make fun shapes. Bake or air-dry and decorate for fun keepsake ornaments.

7. Favorite Things Love Letters

Have everyone write short love letters to their favorite things or people. Whether that’s to their beloved stuffed animal, friend, or even their favorite candy!

Encourage them to be sincere, silly, or sweet. Read aloud to create a sweet family moment, or tuck them away in a keepsake box to revisit and enjoy together next Valentine’s Day.
