Disney VoluntEARS Celebrate Goofy Movie’s 30th Anniversary with Team Building Event

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of A Goofy Movie, 100 Disney VoluntEARS gathered in Burbank for a day of volunteer work that gave back to the foster community. This special event brought people together to assemble 100 custom skateboards for kids in foster care. It was another powerful example of the impact seen when the Disney VoluntEARS team build (or when anyone in the community does, period!) takes part in any hands-on project that helps children. 

A Legacy of Service and Smiles

The Disney VoluntEARS program began in 1992 after the success of the Disneyland Community Action Team, first formed in 1983 by Disneyland Resort Cast Members. These early efforts sparked a movement that now spans the globe. Today, Disney VoluntEARS continues to dedicate its time and talents to projects that uplift communities—especially those that serve children and families.

This team has been one of Foster Love’s longest and most meaningful partnerships. Over the years, Disney VoluntEARS has packed Sweet Cases, assembled and decorated skateboards for youth in foster care, and more. 

In 2019, during the early days of our events, a Disney VoluntEARS team build event brought together dozens of volunteers to provide valuable resources for foster children who had never owned one before. You can read more about that memorable day here.

From Skateboards to Lasting Impact

This year’s Goofy-themed celebration continued that tradition of joyful giving. The 100 volunteers built each skateboard with thought and intention, knowing that each one would soon be in the hands of a child in foster care. This team build was a chance for volunteers to step away from their everyday roles and unite for something bigger. It was a moment of shared purpose, where laughter mixed with teamwork, and service created stronger bonds.

Events like these remind us that volunteerism doesn’t just help those in need—it brings people together, strengthens teams, and builds a culture of compassion.
