Foster Youth Scholars Succeeding in Electrician Programs
These students are powering up new futures through hands-on training in trade school electrician programs. Thanks to the American Industries Scholarship and the BrandSource scholarship, they’re gaining tools, certifications, and confidence to build lasting careers.
Christopher – Electrician, Los Angeles Trade Tech
Chris took the long road to the trades, but his focus is unwavering. “Being in foster care, rehab, and sober living helped me realize what kind of man I want to be,” he shares. Now working toward becoming a licensed journeyman electrician, Chris is building a foundation of stability for his children—both literally and emotionally.
Jaimen – Electrical Engineering, Lincoln Tech
Jaimen grew up fascinated by circuits and inspired by his grandfather, a certified electrician. “I’ve always loved using my hands to figure out how things work,” he says. After a childhood spent moving between foster homes, Jaimen’s adaptability now shines in the classroom. He plans to work in consumer electronics and build a future grounded in purpose and stability.
Zane – Electrical, Lincoln Tech
For Zane, the electrical trade is about independence and identity. “There’s something rewarding about solving problems with your hands and seeing a project come to life,” he says. After the loss of both parents and a cross-country move, Zane discovered the trade in high school and is now committed to starting his own residential electrical company.
