Give Back to the Community: Chick-fil-A
Chick-fil-A is widely known for its traditional policy in which establishments across the nation close their doors every Sunday to observe a day of rest. Owners of the Brea, California location started a quarterly “Serve Sundays.” This is where they serve up some good ole’ philanthropy and give back to the community with their team in addition to team members’ family and friends.
Unfortunately, most children entering foster care receive just two trash bags for their belongings. The Brea Chick-fil-A set out to fundraise money for the Sweet Cases program created by the non-profit Foster Love – Together We Rise. Based in Brea, California, Foster Love – Together We Rise’s mission is to change how youths in foster care carry their personal belongings. The Brea Chick-fil-A hosted two “Spirit Nights” dedicated to fundraising for local nonprofits. Overall, they raised over $2,000 to provide Sweet Cases to local foster youth.
So, Chick-fil-A opened their doors for a collaboration with TWR to assemble Sweet Cases for foster youth. Approximately 40 volunteers came together to assemble over 79 sweet cases. Each duffle bag was carefully decorated with personalized drawings ranging from barn animals to insects. These customized duffle bags were complete with a teddy bear, hygiene kit, stickers, coloring books, art supplies, and a blanket.
We had a great time with the team, and we look forward to future collaborative philanthropic events and projects. In conclusion, thank you to Chick-fil-A and all of the volunteers who helped make this day a success!
