MLB Together Brings Major League Baseball’s Commitment to Community Engagement with Foster Love

More than 60 MLB volunteers and VIP guests came together to assemble 80 Sweet Cases—duffle bags filled with items that support the physical safety, mental health, and emotional stability of children in foster care, who are often impacted by domestic violence, child abuse, and other domestic challenges. Volunteers also added personal touches to each bag, decorating them with stencils, pastels, and drawings to make them special for the kids who receive them.
This event builds on years of collaboration between Major League Baseball and Foster Love. In previous years, MLB employees across cities, including New York, San Francisco, and Boulder, helped put together Foster Love’s Birthday Box program, giving children in foster care a chance to celebrate birthdays that are often overlooked. MLB players, major league clubs, and fans joined in to make sure young people in foster care feel valued and celebrated.
MLB’s 250,000-Hour Volunteer Commitment
This year, MLB Together expanded its reach with a historic pledge. Commissioner Rob Manfred announced that Major League Baseball will complete 250,000 collective volunteer hours in 2026 as part of the United States’ 250th anniversary celebration. This commitment includes participation from all 30 major league clubs, 120 Minor League clubs, MLB players, league staff, and charitable partners.
Through MLB Together, volunteers engage in programs that promote youth empowerment, veteran resources, disaster relief, environmental sustainability, bullying prevention, human trafficking awareness, and survivor support. These programs bring people together, strengthen communities, and address critical issues in underrepresented communities across the country.
About MLB Together
MLB Together is Major League Baseball’s platform for community engagement and social responsibility. It brings together major league clubs, MLB players, and teams to give back to youth, families, and communities across the country. Through volunteer efforts, charity events, and awareness programs, MLB Together supports causes like youth empowerment, mental health, physical safety, veteran resources, disaster relief, domestic violence prevention, bullying prevention, and environmental sustainability.
MLB Together’s Seven Pillars of Impact
The platform is guided by seven pillars that focus on using baseball’s ability to bring people together for positive contributions. These pillars address critical needs, including youth empowerment, mental health, physical safety, health research, veteran resources, disaster relief, and environmental sustainability. Additional focus areas include bullying prevention, domestic violence, closing equity gaps, child abuse prevention, human trafficking awareness, survivor support, and partnerships such as the Crisis Text Line.
League-Wide Community Involvement
Teams like the Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, and Minnesota Twins participate in MLB Together initiatives year-round. From events at MLB ballparks to local community projects, baseball players and fans help support children, families, and military families. These programs often coincide with major events like the All-Star Game and the World Series, demonstrating how the sport expands beyond competition to positive contributions and social responsibility.
Moving Forward, Together.
Major League Baseball continues to support youth empowerment, strengthen families, and provide meaningful community engagement opportunities. By partnering with organizations like Foster Love, the league demonstrates that baseball can bring people together, address societal challenges, and make a lasting impact in communities across the country
