Pedals with Purpose: Bike Building With Velera

Velera recently took part in a hands-on team effort benefiting foster kids in Orange County. Team building activities for team bonding bring people together for meaningful events that have a big impact.  For this team building event, 260 employees built 81 bikes for local children in foster care. Each fully constructed bike was delivered to the Orange County Department of Social Services where they would bring joy and freedom to kids that truly deserved it.

This team building activity lasted a little over an hour, but Velera workers made the most of their time and teamwork and assembled all 81 bikes! 

But the event wasn’t just about assembling bikes—it was about teamwork, inspiration, and the power of shared purpose. For these children, receiving a bike is a gateway to adventure, independence, and a sense of normalcy. Thanks to the dedication of Velera’s team, these bikes will give them the joy of having fun, and just being kids. 

Riding Through Challenges

During the event, a small setback occurred when three tires popped, threatening to slow down progress. But with quick thinking and strong teamwork, the issues were resolved, and the team pushed forward while remaining focused and efficient. The bikes were completed, and replacement parts were on the way, ensuring the project stayed on track.

Triumphs and New Connections

One of the highlights of the event was the chance to connect with the site’s events manager. Inspired by Foster Love’s mission, she promised to share the organization’s work with future groups.This new connection opens the door to even more opportunities to collaborate on team building events that better the lives of foster children.

A Real-Life Impact Story

During the event, one participant shared his experience adopting a baby boy, now three years old, while another former foster child spoke about her own first bike, which became a cherished symbol of freedom and joy. These personal stories resonated deeply with everyone, adding a layer of meaning and engagement as they assembled each bike.
