Regeneron’s Inspiring Day of Service at Foster Love
Regeneron has been a remarkable partner for Foster Love since 2022, engaging in various big group team building activities aimed at supporting children in foster care. Most recently, during their 8th annual Day for Doing Good held in Tarrytown, NY, 150 enthusiastic employees came together for a week-long corporate volunteer event to build skateboards and Superhero Boxes.
This event marked a significant shift from their previous bike building projects to skateboards, reflecting a thoughtful approach to meet the needs of foster children in densely populated areas like New York City, where skateboards are easier to carry and store.
A Day Full of Creativity and Collaboration
Participants were divided into three shifts, allowing everyone to contribute meaningfully. Throughout the day, employees engaged in assembling 100 skateboards, complete with helmets and toolsets.
In addition to the skateboards, the team also decorated and packed 60 Superhero Boxes. These boxes are filled with essential items like a superhero mask, cuffs, and cape, letting every child unleash their inner superhero. Each box was personalized, making them unique and a reminder to these children that they are valued and cared for.
The energy in the room was palpable as participants collaborated and shared ideas. Many employees expressed their eagerness to keep building skateboards long after completing their first ones, illustrating their passion for the project.
A Thoughtful Shift: Skateboards Over Bikes
The decision to transition from bike builds to skateboards this year was met with enthusiasm. Employees voiced that skateboards are not only fun but also practical for children living in urban environments where space can be limited. Unlike bikes, skateboards are easier to transport and store, making them a more suitable option for kids in densely populated areas like New York City.
Feedback from participating agencies highlighted the positive reception of this change. Foster care organizations noted that skateboards provide a sense of freedom and enjoyment for children who may have limited opportunities to engage in recreational activities. This recognition signifies a commitment to understanding the unique challenges faced by foster youth and ensuring that their needs are met with care and consideration.
Building Community and Strengthening Connections
Regeneron’s involvement in big group team building activities goes beyond just completing projects; it is about building community and strengthening connections. Throughout the event, participants had the chance to bond over their shared goal of supporting foster youth. Many expressed that they look forward to this event every year, highlighting the importance of fostering a culture of giving back within the company.
The collaborative spirit and dedication shown during the event not only benefited the children receiving the skateboards and Superhero Boxes but also enhanced the team building experience for Regeneron employees. These shared moments of service create lasting memories and reinforce the company’s commitment to social responsibility.
Continuing Collaboration with Regeneron
Foster Love is incredibly grateful for Regeneron’s ongoing support and enthusiasm. Their participation in these big group team building activities demonstrates a commitment to making a difference in the lives of children in foster care.
By working together, we can create a brighter future for foster youth. Each skateboard built and Superhero Box decorated is a testament to the collective effort to uplift those in need. The joy and excitement generated during the event not only brighten the lives of children but also reinforce the idea that everyone can contribute to positive change in their communities.
As we reflect on Regeneron’s Day for Doing Good, we look forward to more collaborations in the future. Together, we will continue to provide hope and support to foster children, ensuring that no child is forgotten.
