How STEM Boxes Can Help Kids in Foster Care Succeed in School
As the school year begins, kids in foster care often start at a disadvantage. Many move between homes and schools, making it hard to keep up. Without the right tools and support, it’s easy for them to fall behind. The importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) for children at an early age is clear. These subjects open the door to future success, but for many kids in foster care, school can feel like a struggle from day one. Frequent moves and a lack of supplies can leave them behind.
That’s why Foster Love creates STEM Boxes and provides college Tech Packs to support foster youth during back-to-school season.
What’s a STEM Box?
STEM Boxes are filled with fun, hands-on activities that help kids explore science, technology, engineering, and math. These boxes include items like mini robots, fossil hunts, a book of activities, a building kit, and more. They’re designed to spark curiosity and make learning exciting. Even better, they help foster youth build problem-solving skills and confidence in a subject that can open doors to great careers.
Tech Packs for School Success
Along with STEM Boxes, Foster Love also provides Tech Packs for former foster youth attending college or trade school. These are backpacks filled with supplies every college student needs, including laptops, tablets, USBs, printers, and even headphones. Every item is chosen to help students feel prepared to take on the school year with pride. These packs make sure students have everything they need to succeed, just like their classmates.
