Vertex Group Team Building Creates Lasting Impact
Teamwork and generosity came together in Boston as 180 Vertex employees participated in a powerful group service activity. The Vertex group team building event provided employees with the opportunity to work side by side while giving back to their community. Together, they built 60 skateboards that will soon be donated to youth served by local nonprofits.
Who Is Vertex?
Vertex is a global biotechnology company that focuses on creating transformative medicines for people with serious diseases. While their work is rooted in cutting-edge science, the company is equally passionate about supporting communities. Events like this one enable employees to embody Vertex’s values of collaboration, innovation, and care, both in the lab and beyond.
Where the Skateboards Are Going
The skateboards from this event will go to two outstanding organizations: Silver Lining Mentoring and Children’s Services of Roxbury.
Silver Lining Mentoring is the only mentoring program in Massachusetts focused specifically on youth in foster care. They pair young people with consistent, long-term mentors who help them build confidence, life skills, and healthy relationships as they move into adulthood.
Children’s Services of Roxbury (CSR) serves more than 6,000 families each year. Their programs include foster care placement and support, mental health services, youth development, and affordable housing. CSR’s mission is to support families through culturally responsive and trauma-informed care.
Why Group Team Building Matters
The Vertex group team building experience helped bring employees closer while making a real difference. As teams worked together to assemble the skateboards, they also strengthened communication and problem-solving skills: key elements of any great team.
More importantly, they made a direct and meaningful impact on children and teens who often go without. These skateboards will offer more than just transportation or fun—they’ll provide freedom, confidence, and joy to the youth who receive them.
