The tax code for donations to charities has changed this year. Under the pandemic relief program, you can take a deduction of up to $300 for contributions made in 2023, even if you don’t itemize on your income tax return.
Previously, only personal taxes filled with itemized deductions versus using the standard deduction form would qualify for charitable deductions. The new “universal” deduction is taken “above the line” and can reduce your adjusted gross income by up to $300 when you donate the full amount allowed.
