Safelite Foundation Safe Spaces Transform Care Visits
For many children in foster care, visits with their birth parents often take place in bleak, bare rooms that fail to inspire heartwarming reunions with family. These visitation rooms can overshadow precious moments, leaving both parents and children distracted from the joy of their time together. Recognizing this, Safelite has joined forces with Foster Love to launch the transformative Safe Spaces Initiative—an effort designed to create nurturing, dignified environments where children and parents can reconnect. The Safelite Foundation Safe Spaces launched last month, with many more to come.
We were thrilled to kick off the Safe Spaces initiative with the opening of the first remodeled Safe Space into a welcoming environment for families to reconnect. This initiative marks a pivotal moment in our ten-year partnership with Safelite, as we work towards our shared goal of improving the lives of foster children.Â
This is just the first of many Safe Spaces to be remodeled across the country, as Safelite dedicates its resources to helping create brighter futures for foster children nationwide.
The First Safe Spaces Reveal: A Transformational Moment in Foster Care  Â
One of the highlights of our recent launch event was revealing the newly renovated rooms to the NYAP (National Youth Advocate Program) in Safelite’s hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
The experience was both emotional and heartwarming. A long-time NYAP employee who has dedicated 25 years of service saw the transformed rooms and was moved to tears.
The joy continued when a family began using one of the new rooms. Their laughter filled the halls with warmth and excitement. A young boy from the family was the first to try out the toys, and gave them a resounding “10/10!”
These moments of unexpected happiness were powerful reminders that Safe Spaces matter and can change the lives of those impacted by the foster care system in big ways.Â
What Safe Spaces mean to the foster community
Safelite Foundation Safe Spaces will allow families to come together and build stronger relationships, creating a ripple effect that will ultimately benefit the foster care system. These remodeled rooms not only provide a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for families but also serve as a reminder of the importance of embracing community, maintaining family relationships, and supporting one another.Â
With each visit to a Safe Space, families will hopefully be reminded that they are not alone in their journey and are valued and cared for, with a community rallying behind them.
Exciting plans ahead: 49 more Safe Spaces on the way!
We are transforming 49 more rooms across the country for the next 5 years. Stay tuned! We’ll be sure to share the happy moments from our Safe Spaces reveals on social media and email!
Our goal is not just about making improvements to physical spaces. It’s about creating an environment that inspires hope, positivity, and growth for these children who have experienced so much hardship in their young lives.Â
