Samueli Academy Students Return for Middle School Team Building and Service
We were thrilled to welcome Samueli Academy back to Foster Love! 40 student volunteers came together for their middle school team building activity, which they take part in every April. The students arrived bright and early and full of energy and ready to serve and support other youth in their community. This hands-on experience helped them learn the power of teamwork while they made a real difference in their community.
A School That Lifts Up Foster and Low-Income Youth
Samueli Academy was created to support foster youth and low-income students in Orange County. Their students work hard, and it shows—96% go on to college, a remarkable number that speaks to the school’s strong foundation. Samueli returns to us every April, and their students always bring a sense of purpose and heart to every project.
A Mission Inspired by Two Mothers
The idea for Samueli Academy came from Susan Samueli and Sandi Jackson, two local mothers and philanthropists. They noticed that many teens, like those in foster care, were not graduating from high school. Working with the Orangewood Foundation, they set out to create a place where students could thrive. Today, Samueli Academy is that place—and it’s changing lives every day.
Why Team Building for Middle Schoolers is Important
The students spent the morning working on projects to help other youth in need. Through teamwork, they learned how to divide tasks, solve problems, and support one another. It was a lesson in giving back, and how working together can create something meaningful.
Middle school is a time when students start to shape who they are. Team building for middle schoolers helps them learn important life skills like communication, leadership, and empathy. Samueli Academy encourages these values every day, and our event gave their students a chance to practice them in real life.
Thank You, Samueli Academy
We’re always excited to see Samueli Academy students walk through our doors. They’re thoughtful, driven, and ready to make a difference. We can’t wait to welcome them back next year for another day of service and team building.
