Every month Kind Snacks supports one project with a $10,000 donation.  Different projects get posted to the Kind website and voting takes place throughout the whole month. The project with the most votes at the end of the month receives the donation.  During the month of February TWR was neck-and-neck with another project for first place. As the competition closed on February 28th at 12:00 am, TWR took first place with 5,211 votes! The runner-up ended with 4,884 votes. With the immense help of our interns, we were able to clutch the first-place spot and win the 10k!
Thank you to all of our social media followers for voting for TWR and spreading the word about Sweet Cases!
The 10k received from Kind Snacks will provide 500 foster kids with Sweet Cases instead of trash bags. That gives 500 kids the chance to feel hope as they enter the foster care system.
These kids will receive a duffle bag filled with various necessities to call their own, including hygiene products and other items such as stuffed animals. With this donation, we will be able to move towards our goal to provide 10,000 Sweet Cases to foster kids in 2014.
We want to take a minute to also thank our runner-up Help Build the Honey House. This organization is seeking to build a portable medical treatment unit for young Brian Ilg, an 8 year-old boy from Patchogue, NY who was born with Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, a painful, disfiguring skin disorder. Help Build the Honey House was able to rally 4,000+ votes for their cause! We were so touched by their efforts that we are going to donate an Xbox to Brian to start completion of the Honey House.
Thanks again to all of our supporters who made this competition a success. We could not have won without your loyalty and continued commitment to spread the word about foster care!
